1. Chuck Sentencing Update

Chuck has been sentenced to serve his 3 years at the United States Penitentiary at Hazelton in remote Bruceton Hills West Virginia. As Chuck’s supporters, we commit to reading and disseminating Chuck’s writings, maintaining our communications while he is incarcerated and ensuring that he us not isolated as he serves his sentence 600 miles away.

2. Words from Chuck: “See You Soon!

It seems inconceivable that after 46 years of service to my people and my community, I am about to spend three years in a federal lockup.  However, as the song says, “Keep your Eyes on the Prize”. Don’t let the defeats in the struggle for justice distract. Given the 400 year experience of our ancestors…, I have no right to complain despite
the injustice of it all.

Terri and I thank you for your wonderful support. It reminded us what community really means. How can you help? One way is to help retire the debt owed to us by the campaign. All contributions should be sent to P.O. Box 190251, Roxbury 02119.

The most important assistance is to stand up and fight back whenever you see injustice. You and I know that US Attorney Sullivan’s objective was to break our spirit. They now know they can’t break mine. Show them they can’t break yours. Be part of the unending the Chain of Change. Don’t complain. Fight Back.

Former US Atty. Sullivan has failed. His purpose was to silence me.  However, he is learning that while his system can put my body in jail, my spirit and voice remain free. You can access my writings at SupportChuckTurner.com  and BlackCommentator.com.

 A Luta Continua—The Struggle Continues!

 3.    [3/24] Chuck’s Last Appearance Before Incarceration

Turner to Address Crimes of US Attorney’s Office

Framing the Innocent: Crimes Under Color of Law at the Massachusetts US Attorney’s Office

          Thursday, March 24, 7:00 P.M.
Northeastern University School of Law, 240 Dockser Hall (65 Forsyth St. Boston)

Speakers:

Chuck Turner: five-term Boston City Councilor representing Roxbury and Dorchester, and a lifetime activist for social justice, recently targeted by the FBI and the Massachusetts us attorney.

Bob Boyle: attorney representing many activists and political prisoners targeted by the FBI’s infamous counter-intelligence program (cointelpro).

Laila Murad: organizer from the Tarek Mehanna support committee Michael Avery: professor of law, Suffolk Law School, won a landmark civil suit against the Boston FBI on behalf of four men wrongfully convicted of murder.

BOSTON – On Thursday, March 24th, at 7 p.m., the night before he will begin serving a federal prison sentence, former City Councilor Chuck Turner will participate in a forum entitled “Framing the Innocent: Crimes Under Color of Law at the Massachusetts US Attorney’s Office.”

The event is being organized to draw attention to serious misconduct within the office of the US Attorney in Boston. Other speakers will include civil rights Attorney Bob Boyle, Laila Murad, an organizer for the Tarek Mehanna Support Committee, and law professor Michael Avery.

The event will take place in Room 240 of Northeastern University’s Dockser Hall (65 Forsyth St., Boston).

Turner and the other organizers of the event believe that prosecutorial abuse within the US Attorney’s office hasn’t been given the scrutiny it deserves. Massachusetts Supreme Court Justice Mark L. Wolf, who has been a leader in exposing and censuring the US Attorney’s office for its criminal misconduct, is on record stating that there is a “dismal history of intentional and inadvertent violations” on the part of the US Attorney’s office.

The forum is designed to educate the public about the ways in which the abuses by the US Attorney incriminate innocent people and jeopardize the prospects for justice.
