1.  CORI Reform Press Conference: Today (Thursday) 4:30pm

If you are in or around downtown, please join today for a State House Press Conference at 4:30pm!  We need supporters in the building to keep the pressure up.

48 Hours of Final Action for CORI Reform
Commonwealth CORI Coalition Urges Legislature:
Finish the Job on CORI so Tens of Thousands Have the Chance to Get a Job

What:     Press Conference to Begin 48 Hours of Final Action for CORI Reform

When:    Thursday, July 29th, 4:30 pm

Where:   Outside the House Chamber and Senate President’s Office, 3rd Floor of the State House

Who: CORI reform supporters including Rev. Jack Johnson, President of the Massachusetts Council of Churches and Rocio Saenz, President of SEIU Local 615, Lisa Clauson, Co-Director of Community Labor United, will begin our final 48 hours of continuous action for passage of CORI Reform in the pending Crime Bill.

Why: After 5 years of effort, CORI reform passed both the House and Senate by wide margins. Now it's up to the House and Senate to negotiate a final Crime Bill that includes CORI reform and passes by the July 31 deadline when the Legislative session ends.

Supporters of CORI reform will gather and stay in the State House during the final 48 hours of the legislative session to press for passage of a Crime Bill with CORI reform provisions. CORI reform will lessen crime, save taxpayers money and give ex-offenders, who have shown they’ve rehabilitated themselves, a fair chance to get jobs.

CORI reform legislation is supported by:

·      100 community organization and labor unions

·      Key law enforcement officials, including Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis, District Attorney Dan Conley, Sheriff Andrea Cabral, Massachusetts Major Police Chief President Dan O'Leary, MBTA Police Chief Tom O'Laughlin, Chelsea Police Chief Brian Keys

·      Key elected officials, including Mayor Menino, Governor Patrick, and 70 state legislators who sponsored the legislation

·      Business groups, including the Worcester Chamber of Commerce, the Newmarket Business Association, and Associated Industries of Massachusetts
