After a successful first year, the Boston Workers Alliance seeks a new entrepreneurial manager to grow its unique community-based temp agency, the Boston Staffing Alliance (BSA). BSA focuses on temporary and temporary-to-permanent placement of workers with barriers to employment. In particular, BSA focuses on those who are excluded from the workforce due to a criminal record in the state's Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) system. We are Massachusetts' only not-for-profit staffing company that delivers competitive staffing services to local employers by offering motivated and well-supported workers from Boston's urban communities of color.
The Manager will be critical to staffing agency's success. We are seeking someone with unusual strengths as both an entrepreneur and sales manager. Under the supervision of the WFCR Development Director, provide information management and administrative support to a department that raises over $3 million in annual revenue. This position is responsible for managing gift processing for 14,000 annual donors, managing the billing and payments for 300 underwriting clients and coordinating the station's volunteer program.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience with computers; be well-organized, excellent with detailed work, very accurate, show initiative and follow-through; have the ability to work effectively under deadlines, exercising good judgment and grace; have experience responding to customer/donor needs and inquiries in a timely, professional manner; and possess strong communication, administrative, and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to be flexible to meet station needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree with two years experience in office setting or two years of directly related stewardship experience may be substituted for Associate's degree. Demonstrable competency in the use and maintenance of database software. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Word.
Grade 15, special recruitment range $34,284 – $38,502. Excellent benefits.

The ACLU of MA, the National Police Accountability Project of the National Lawyers Guild, and Suffolk Law School
pro bono program are teaming up for a project to help people who want to file complaints about the conduct of
Boston police officers. 6 law students in January. They can help with the filing of complaints, assisting the person
as Internal Affairs handles the complaint, and with any appeals that the person may wish to file about how their
complaint was dealt with. We will review their information and determine if the project with Suffolk can help them.

3. SCHOLARSHIPS
Boston University's Scholarship for Parents

Offered since the fall of 2008, the Scholarship for Parents is a 50% tuition discount for parents of Boston & Chelsea public school students who have completed some college. Awarded by Boston University's Metropolitan College, the scholarship gives parents the chance to finish a Bachelor's degree at BU with the convenience of part-time, evening study. To be eligible, parents must:
· Have a child enrolled in a Boston or Chelsea Public School (children must be enrolled in BPS, CPS, or a public charter school within either
Boston or Chelsea city limits—parents of METCO-participating students would not be eligible unless they also currently have
children in BPS)
· Have completed six college courses with a GPA of 3.0 or above
· Be US citizens or permanent residents.
· Be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at BU's Metropolitan College
With the 50% tuition discount, the cost of a four credit course is reduced to $750, and parents can apply for and receive additional financial aid—based on their financial need—through the FAFSA. I've attached the Scholarship for Parents flyer as a .pdf file, which details scholarship benefits, eligibility requirements, and available programs of study.
